Neck injuries, whether mild or severe, can lead to incapacitating neck pain and muscle spasms which may impact your ability to go about your daily activities. Sudden onset neck pain can be caused by such seemingly innocuous activities as sitting at the computer for too long, lifting something the wrong way or sleeping in a bad position. More severe injuries are usually caused by trauma such as whiplash, falls, and violent twisting. Common causes of neck pain include muscle spasms, arthritis, muscle strains, neck sprains, and herniated discs.
One of the newer, but amazingly effective treatments for neck pain is a therapeutic taping product called Kinesio Tape. This thin, stretchy tape provides comfortable support without restricting range of motion. When applied to the skin over an injury, it interacts with the nervous system to provide rapid pain relief and the lymphatic system to reduce swelling and inflammation.
KinesioTape has become very popular with athletes because it can often provide enough relief of pain and inflammation to allow an athlete to continue training and competing while recovering from an injury like muscle strain or spasms in the neck and upper shoulder area .
Kinesio recently released a set of 6 Precut Kinesio Tape applications for different body parts that make Kinesio Taping quick and easy. Each convenient foil packet contains one application specially designed for the neck and upper back area. The precut Kinesio Tape Neck application can be used to provide support and relieve pain and spasms in the neck and trapezius muscles across the top of the shoulders. Each packet contains two beige Y-Strips and one black I-Strip, enough tape for 2 applications. Markings on each strip allow it to be customized for different body sizes. Step-by-step application instructions are included in each packet.
Application Instructions – Precut Kinesio Tape Neck
Before applying the precut Kinesio Tape Neck application, make sure the area is clean and dry so the adhesive can set properly. Apply Kinesiotape at least 30 minutes before any physical activity.
Most KinesioTape applications can remain in place for 3 to 5 days, providing round the clock support and pain relief.
